The site doesn't visibly demonstrate why a visitor should trust this business. No reviews. No real photos. No real names. No awards. No real numbers. Visitor lands, scrolls, sees nothing convincing, bounces in under 8 seconds. Conversion stays under 1%. The owner blames traffic, when the actual problem is that the site doesn't earn trust fast enough.
What to add (in priority order)
- A 5-star rating strip below the hero with linked count ("★★★★★ 5.0 from 47 reviews — see all"). Most important single trust signal on the page.
- Real client photos — the team, the work, the office. Stock photos are negative trust signals — every visitor can spot them in 2 seconds.
- Award badges from credible organizations (AAF, Davey, Horizon, BBB if applicable). Lesser-known awards from real organizations beat well-known directories.
- Named testimonials with photo (consent required). Vague unnamed quotes are worth less than a single named, faced testimonial.
- Specific outcome numbers, where consent allows. "Built 47 sites in 3 years" beats "Trusted by many."
- Certifications, licenses, insurance badges where applicable. Particularly important for regulated verticals.
- Press mentions, podcast appearances, speaking engagements — third-party validation.
The trust-signal stack
The best service business sites stack 5-10 trust signals on the homepage, distributed across the page (not crammed in one section). Hero gets a review-strip. Below-hero gets an award row. Mid-page gets a featured testimonial. Service section gets credential badges. Footer gets the full review widget. The visitor encounters trust signals continuously throughout the experience — every section reinforces credibility.
Why this is the lowest-effort fix
Adding trust signals to a site that previously had none often doubles the conversion rate on the same traffic. Most of the signals you need already exist — reviews on your Google profile, awards you've won, real photos in your phone, certifications you already have. The work is surfacing them prominently on the site, not creating them from scratch.
Pairs with the trust signals on-site topic and the Lead-Generation Websites cluster.
