» FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When should I book my photo shoot?
You should always try to set up a photo shoot as soon as you've made up your mind you're ready to do it. A big part of a successful photo shoot is planning. The better the planning, the better the photos will turn out.
What is required to schedule a photo shoot?
An email or phone call is the first step to getting the wheels turning. I will then set up a consultation (either in person or through email) to figure out exactly what your goals are for the photo shoot.
Do you shoot in a studio?
I don't own a studio space. I prefer to shoot on-location because it ensures your pictures will be unique.
What if I want to do some studio type portraits?
A studio is nothing more than a room. Because my equipment is easily portable, I can set up a studio virtually anywhere. If you prefer the studio look, I am available to come to your home and easily set up a studio in a place where you're most relaxed.
How much photo retouching do you do?
The actual photo-shoot is usually just the beginning. By combining my graphic design skills with the power of digital photography I am able to push the edge and create a final image that both the client and I can be proud of. I will retouch a photo how I think it would benefit, but I always listen to client requests as well. I do my best to make you look your best! The possibilities within digital editing are endless.
How will I get to finally see and order my photos?
Once your photos are ready, I will set up an online proofing gallery to view and order your photos. During this time, you will be able to request any special editing techniques or additional retouching.
Can I purchase all the photos on a disc?
Fully retouched, print-ready photos on a disc can be purchased with any session. With the disc you will receive a signed release from me which will allow you to print your favorite photos from any lab of your choice without issues. With the images backed up to a disc, you will be able to make reprints months and years from now.
Do I get copyright to the photos once the session is done?
I will never release the copyright to the photos unless a prior arrangement is made between the client and I. According to federal law, images taken by a photographer are copyrighted the moment they are created. Federal law prohibits copying or reproducing copyrighted material without prior permission. If you copy or scan the photos, the photographer should be paid just as if you were buying reprints.
Will you use my photos on your website?
All clients must sign a model release form. I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity and therefore your full photo session will never be available through my website. If I do decide to use a photo from your session for my website, I will send a prior notice.
What is a (high-school) senior rep & how do I become one?
Senior class reps are a way for me to help advertise my portrait photography services to high school seniors and for seniors to earn free photo sessions and prints. Seniors also earn credits toward free prints or just extra cash. The first step to becoming your school's senior rep is to get in touch with me so I can give you more info!
